Rainbow Mountain range in the Chilcotin region of British Columbia

THE COUNTRY   Tweedsmuir Park is located in west central British Columbia on the western limit of the Chilcotin. It is truly a wilderness park, with virtually no development of any kind. Within the park is a large portion of the traditional Nuxalk-Carrier Grease Trail, over which the First Nations people guided Alexander Mackenzie on his way to Bella Coola and the Pacific in 1797.

THE OUTFIT   David, Joyce and Leslie Dorsey have been taking people through the Rainbows for the past 25 years. However David’s connections with the country go back to his First Nations ancestry on his mother’s side, when Thomas Squinas, his grandfather, hunted, trapped and took his family through these mountains all his life.

THE ADVENTURES   We prefer to cater to small groups, so that we can share our nomadic, mountain lifestyle as a well-organized and personalized adventure. To help you plan your trip, we have a number of riding or hiking options for you to consider

GUEST PERSPECTIVES   "By far the most professional outfitters I have come across in years. Their sensitive attitude towards the environment and the way they care for their horses is exemplary. The meals were gourmet and clients looked after in a very professional manner. The Dorseys provided me with a sense of history and a feeling for the area we travelled in - they know it intimately."
